Call for submissions: Every Second Sunday 2010
Short fiction and poetry

Seoul Writers Workshop is inviting submissions for the 2010 anthology, to be published October 2010.

Every Second Sunday is the annual English language anthology published by Seoul Writers Workshop; the first anthology was released in December 2008. While as a rule we do not have a ‘theme,’ authors must have lived in Korea at some point during the period October 2009 – October 2010.

Submissions are evaluated by an outside panel of writers and poets, and former Seoul Writers Workshop members no longer living in Korea. While membership in SWW is not mandatory for submissions, we suggest you join the group to receive updates on deadlines, publication and the launch party. You will also be kept up to date on workshops, write-ins and other events which SWW hold in and around Seoul on a regular basis.

If you want your submission to be workshopped by SWW at one of our regular Sunday workshops, please do so before submitting it to the anthology. Again, while this is not mandatory for submission, it may help you in your editing process to receive multiple points of view on your work. While the editorial committee may ask you to make some minor adjustments to your work, we will not allow changes or submissions of new drafts after the deadline.

Writers are welcome to submit multiple pieces into any category, however please be aware that space in the anthology is limited.

Deadlines: The final date for submissions is June 14th 2010.

  3. I have written several stories of my experiences in Korea since arriving in Wonju last year. I recently sent some of them to a friend and he suggested I contact you. As I looked at your website, however, I observed that you only accept fiction and poetry. My stories are actual happenings–therefore non-fiction by definition. My friend said, ‘Oh, give it a try anyway, see what they think.’

The story is about 750 words long and would like to submit it for you to read.

  4. Hi Lynn,

We also accept creative non-fiction, but not journalism. I would definitely suggest submitting your work, though the length might be a little short. Maybe if you have 2-5 short pieces that could connect to each other thematically, that might be best.

    Thanks for your interest,
