Calls for Submissions

leave a comment »

Groove Magazine has asked me to coordinate their new fiction section. They will be publishing one piece of short fiction, 1000 words or less, each month and pair it with a photo from a local photography group.

The first piece will appear in the September issue. The deadline for that is August 12th. As this is such a short notice, there is no theme assigned for the September issue.
The October theme is “Change”. Interpret that however you feel. That deadline is September 12th (see a pattern yet?).

Please send your pieces to I prefer the piece to be in Word or txt/rft formats. Do not submit a PDF.

If you have any questions, please reply to me personally, not the entire group.

Separately, Speakeasy, a bi-monthly cultural publication, is looking for a variety of submissions – fiction, essay, photo, etc. Their Sept/Oct theme is “Obsession” and the deadline is August 1st. Nov/Dec’s is “That’s not what I meant” with a Sept. 30th deadline.
Visit for details.
